Mountain Bell 1E Green loc LP2

Western Electric model 1E single slot payphone made in 1973. It operation is similar to the old 193G, 212G and many other post pay 3 slot payphones. The caller would lift the handset, listen for dial tone and dial the desired number. After hearing a second dial tone a deposit in this case of 20 cents for a local call would be made. This phone came from Pie Town New Mexico. It has beautiful original green paint and the original gray handset with the seldom seen black grommet. Note the instruction plate in the upper left corner that was used on the 1E models. The upper housing lock is a 29A-63 and the vault lock is a 30A.
